Airtel on Tuesday elevated Raghunath Mandava as managing director and CEO of its Africa business. He will take up this role beginning 2017. At present Mandava is the chief operating officer at Airtel Africa.
KGPian M Raghunath Venkateswarlu (88/BTech/EC/PH) pursued his BTech from IIT Kharagpur in 1988 in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering. He has done masters from IIM Bangalore in 1990.
Prior to joining Airtel, Raghu worked in Unilever in several sales and marketing roles. Christian Defaria who is the executive chairman at Airtel Africa will now look after Bharti Airtel’s international operations. He has been designated as Chairman Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV, with effect from January 1, 2017.
In November Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) through its wholly owned subsidiary, has completed the acquisition of Econet Wireless Limited’s entire 4.2% shareholding in Airtel Nigeria. As a result, Airtel’s overall holding in Airtel Nigeria has increased to 83.25%.
